Kort have recieved a order for the Design and Supply of the "RAMEWC" Tug for the Egyptian Army. The design package for the new 7.5m single screw Tug for the Egyptian Navy will have a 214 Kw main engine giving a predicted bollard pull of 2.5 T and speed of about 9.5 knots. Macduff Shipdesign have been contracted to supplying all construction and cutting information allowing for the vessel to be built in Egypt. The vessel is a prototype based on an earlier design that Kort supplied to Egypt and will hopefully lead to additional orders. Delivery is expected by April 2012. New engraving in the frame of “Keep Shut At Sea” is one key and important new additionals along with Engraving into the Made to Measure Frame as well. This has saved a lot of time and money for the ship builder. Sales for the range of Hercules Hatches are exceeding recent years with very high volume of sales. All of the UK boat builders who are producing the Wind Farm vessels are using the Range of Hercules Hatches with also Made to Measure which shows excellent results. Macduff Shipyards Limited have just completed and delivered a new steel workboat to Abderdeen Harbour Bard, which will be used for general harbour activities including surveying, plough dredging and debris recovery. The vessel was built to a design by Macduff Ship Design Limited, who also acted as owners Naval Architects/representatives and it was surveyed to conform to the requirements of the Code of Practice for the Safety of Small Workboats and Pilot Boats for Category 3 Waters by The Society of Consulting Marine Engineers and Ship Surveyors. The twin screw vessel is powered by Scania DI12 59M engines each rated 350HP at 1800RPM driving 1300mm dia Kort XL Noozzle propellers through Twin Disc MGX5114 DC gearboxes with 4.59:1 reduction ratio, and controlled by Twin Disc EC300 Quickshift control system. On trials the vessel achieved a speed of 9.6 knots and a bollard pull of 9.5 tonnes. This surpassed contractural conditions for performance. The Scania main engines and Onan generator are fresh water cooled by means of Fernstrum Gridcoolers supplied by Kort Propulsion Co Ltd, who also supplied the Sterngear, Propellers, XL Nozzles and KT30 Hydraulic bow thruster. KORT BREAK INTO INDIAN MARKET12x KT300AZ UNITS FOR IWAI Kort Propulsion has completed an order from an Indian Shipyard, HOOGHLY DOCK & PORT ENGINEERS on behalf of Inland Indian Waterways Authority . Six new workboats will be built each with 2x KT300AZ units. Kort are supplying 12x KT300AZ Azimuthing Units for The Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI) who were established in 1986 for the development and regulation of inland waterways for shipping and navigation. The Authority primarily undertakes projects for the development and maintenance of IWT Infrastructure on national waterways through grants received from The Ministry of Shipping. Kort can also offer further estimates on vessel performance, i.e. thrust figures and rpm figures, across the speed range. Once all the variables are decided upon, they would then work closely with the shipyard and owners. Kort steerable propeller propulsion unit the KT300AZ will be powered by Greaves Cotton Indian engine developing 275Hp @1800rpm, with a 3:1 Gearbox . It comprises of a water cooled marine diesel engine driving a fixed blade propeller through an overcentre clutch, torsional vibration coupling, cardan shafts. It should be emphasised that the design of the complete system is based on established components, proven to provide long life and reliability, with low maintenance requirements.The design has been proven over a long History of supply to many customers in many diverse environments, worldwide, many of which involve adverse conditions demanding the best quality equipment. 12 units have now been delivered. This is an exciting order for Kort Propulsion Co Ltd and a step into the Indian market where extreme growth will take place in the coming years. |

NEW 14m HARBOUR WORKBOAT FOR ABERDEEN HARBOUR
Kort Propulsion Co Ltd have recently supplied equipment for Scottish Boat builder, new 14m harbour workboat for Aberdeen Harbour built by Macduff Shipyards is powered by 2x Scania engines developing 350hp@1800rpm. A Twin disc gearbox with Shafting and 1300mm Propellers in Nozzles will achieve 9 Tonnes Bollard Pull. Kort have also supplied a KT30 BowThruster and Fernstrum Gidcoolers. This again shows the excellent relationship with Kort Propulsion – Macduff Shipdesign and Macduff Shipyards.
